I have not made a teardrop rug since my now famous 'dud' rug used as the example in my online penny rug course some years ago. I now remember why...the teardrop edging on these rugs presents a challenge when one hand cuts each penny. I hand cut (without freezer paper) all the penny circles for my rugmaking, as this gives a very nice, primitive look to the rugs. However, the larger the rug the more difficult it becomes to 'fit' those pennies together. The 'teardrop pennies' were individually cut in size to 'fit' together in the rug. Very time consuming and difficult to do. Yes, a challenge is nice now and again but... I will not make another teardrop rug for...another few years. cee |
